CLAY COUNTY HOSPITAL RECEIVES $12.1 MILLION FROM THE STATE
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT GRANTS TO TRANSFORM HEALTHCARE
DELIVERY AND IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES
Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services
(HFS), and the Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB) announced the selection of
13 organizations to receive funding through the unprecedented Healthcare
Transformation Capital Investment Grant Program. The grants, which total $200
million, will fund capital projects addressing health-related social needs and reduce
disparities in healthcare.
Governor JB Pritzker said, “This Capital Improvement Grant Program will improve
hospitals and care centers with much needed improvements, making it easier for
healthcare professionals to serve their communities.”
Organizations were selected following a merit-based review in accordance with the
Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) Uniform Requirements. Clay
County Hospital’s proposal was selected as one of the 13 awardees out of over 50
applications.
Clay County Hospital’s (CCH) grant submission included several projects with a
projected construction cost of $15.1 million. To be competitive in the grant process
CCH offered to provide matching funds of 20 percent. The grant was awarded for
$12.1 million. The following is a summary of the key points of the award:

This grant will enable significant improvements and expansions, enhancing healthcare
services for the community. Bob Sellers, President/CEO of CCH, stated, “the grant
provides the funds to strategically position CCH in providing outstanding services to
the residents of Clay County and surrounding areas well into the future”.
Mr. Sellers wanted to acknowledge the outstanding work done by Kamy Vail, Clinical
Nurse Educator, and Jay Walker, Plant Operations Manager, in completion of the
grant application and its subsequent approval.
